Our highly competitive apprenticeship program is approved and registered with the Maine Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The apprenticeship selection starts with completing our online application, submitting a resume, and working with our recruiter to schedule and complete an interview. Although experience is not required, many applicants who apply have attended a Lineworker Pre-apprenticeship or certificate program, and hold a Comercial Drivers License (CDL).
If selected, aspiring lineworkers undergo a comprehensive T&D Power skills training, which consists of 76 online modules, each accompanied by a physical field performance review with our experts. Our training programs are structured into five levels of progression, ensuring a systematic approach to skill acquisition and development.
These five different levels are:
- Third class
- Second class
- First class probationary
- First class
A review is performed after each classification is completed. The program’s primary goal is to make line workers comprehend each module and demonstrate the knowledge learned throughout the program. We also have crew-wide safety training days, giving Coutts’ employees the opportunity to work on powerlines in our de-energized training yard.
